The distance from the center of an LED cluster (or pixel) to the center of the next LED cluster/pixel, measured in millimeters. Pixel pitch typically ranges from .9mm up to 10mm.

Pixel pitch directly correlates your display resolution and optimal viewing distance. The smaller the pixel pitch number, the more pixels used to make up the image on your display, thus improving the resolution and optimal viewing distance. The lower the pixel pitch, the closer a viewer can stand to your display and still have a great resolution. Having a smaller pixel pitch does help your picture, but at a cost. By having a smaller pixel pitch, you increase the number of LED clusters for your display.

NationStar Technology is the leading manufacturer for chips, LEDs and LED lighting products. It encapsulates the red, green and blue colors within one pixel on a base of gold wire, which it is a better conductor and dissipates heat.

MBI 5153 (PWM) is a leader brand / cutting edge technology from Taiwan. The 5153 chip has a higher refresh rate than the 5124 chip.

The smaller the LED the less room there is for a mask as the LED is protected with a coating. When a mask is on the LED, overtime the heat could degrade the image and it may need to be replaced.

The LED greyscale is 16 bits, and this is the best scale available. The majority of the LED displays are 12 bits, and the less expensive LED displays are 8 bits.

The LED receiving card is Novastar & Colorlight. This allows for a calibration of the screen, especially if a new LED panel is to be replaced along side of an old LED panel. Cdm/ sqm = nits

SMD stands for Surface Mount Diode.

COB stands for Chip on Board. It takes the LED away from the surface and actually embeds it into the PCB board.

Once installed, every screen is calibrated and coefficients of color, gamma, greyscale and brightness are stored within the receiving card of each section. When a tile is replaced with a spare part, the coefficients are read to the new tiles so it may mimic the original one unnoticeably. Obviously, with aging, LEDs dim at different rates over time, so regular calibration sessions are recommended every 12+ months.
